With a $250,000 sale under its belt, the Ford Shelby GT-H convertible will sidle into this week's New York auto show ready to roll out to Hertz rental fleets nationwide.
Last week, TheCarConnection.com reported that Shelby's convertible would be shown in New York, alongside the new GT500KR Mustang coupe. Last weekend, Ford unveiled the Shelby convertible at the Palm Beach edition of the Barrett-Jackson auction, and promptly sold the first "Rent-A-Racer" Mustang for a quarter-million dollars.
The convertible will be shown in New York . Then, Ford confirms, about 500 convertibles will be made available through the Hertz Fun Collection at a handful of airports in warm-weather states like Arizona , California , and Hawaii later this year.
The Hertz Fun Collection includes a variety of sports cars and other high-profile "sporty" vehicles, such as the Jeep Wrangler, Nissan 350Z, and the original GT-H, which is still available in limited numbers.
The ragtop should match the numbers published for last year's GT-H coupe. That should mean around 325 horsepower.
