Rolls-Royce has confirmed that a production version of the 101EX concept car will go into production next year.

The two-door, four-seat coupe first appeared at the Geneva Motor Show last year. It will be priced between the firm's two other models, the Phantom sedan ($340,000) and the Drophead Coupe ($407,000). Production is scheduled to begin next summer at the company's plant at Goodwood, southern England.

"It will use an all aluminum construction similar to the rest of the Phantom family. However, it will be a unique car, designed around the desire to create the world's foremost transcontinental tourer," said a company spokesman.

Power will be from the same 6.75-liter V-12 engine as the other two models, producing 453 hp and 531 lb-ft. of torque. However, the body will be shorter than that of the Phantom sedan and there will be revisions to the suspension and chassis setup.

Ian Robertson, chairman and chief executive of Rolls-Royce, said: "This new model represents an important milestone in the company's history. It completes the Phantom family and judging by the customer reaction to 101EX, we are confident of its success."
