Lincoln, meanwhile, introduced two versions of its newly-redesigned Navigator. The full-size SUV was the first true luxury ute, and introduced the bling factor to the segment a couple of years before Cadillac weighed in with the Escalade. But Lincoln's star sank with the second-generation model. Now it's hoping to revitalize the Navigator franchise with a vehicle that clearly has a lot more "attitude," said designer Peter Horbury, starting with the massive chrome grille. The new design intends to deliver a sense of "confidence and power," he asserted. The '07 Navigator boasts a 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic. In a nod to today's fuel price-sensitive market, Horbury pointed out that the '07 ute runs on regular gasoline. For an improved ride, the 2007 model boasts an independent rear suspension. Meanwhile, Lincoln is adding a second version, the stretched Lincoln L. It adds another14.7 inches to the Navigator's overall length, providing an additional 25 cubic feet of storage behind the third row of seats.
