Some might fins it a little surprising that the Touareg doesn't have three rows of seating.
In shopping this model, you have to consider that its competition isn't the likes of the Toyota Highlander or Chevrolet Traverse but the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
Otherwise, the Volkswagen Touareg is fully competitive with rival models from most luxury automakers—especially with respect to interior comfort and green options.
A new Hybrid model joins the Touareg TDI, earning higher mileage figures than most mid-size utes.
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class offers an even wider range of powertrains (including a diesel model), and has a great ride.
BMW's X5 is a somewhat more engaging drive, while the Infiniti FX is the pick for performance on a curvy road.
Compared to any of these rivals, though, the Touareg is arguably priced high.
